If you are paying online through the EZPAY+ payment platform, Direct Debit transactions will take five (5) business days for the payment to be approved and hence may result in a longer processing time for the Certificate of Character. We encourage Users to read this Privacy Policy so that they understand how EZpay+ Payment Platform collects, uses, shares and protects your Personal Information. We may ask your permission before collecting certain information through the platform.

1. Personal Information About You:

Personal Information essential for fulfilling most financial requests and applications include:

Information establishing your identity - such as your name, address, phone number, title, business phone number, email address, national registration number, NIS number, and account numbers. This information can be in any form including paper and electronic;

Information to authenticate your identity - such as knowledge-based information (i.e. username, password, security questions),

Information related to transactions - arising from your relationship with and through EZpay+ such as service account information, licence number, map reference number.
Additional information - this may be requested to help us determine your eligibility for services that are offered.

2. Collection and Usage of Personal Information

2.1. General Information

2.1.1 The EZpay+ Payment Platform may receive and store Personal Information that a User enters while accessing the service or using the Services or when a User provides to the EZpay+ platform upon signing up to become a registered user. For the avoidance of doubt the Terms and Conditions outlined under the EZpay+ Payment Platform Agreement also applies.

2.1.2 The EZpay+ Payment Platform may use your Personal Information to establish your identity, maintain and deliver new Services.

2.1.3 The EZpay+ Payment Platform may also customize the advertising and content on the platform, communicate with the User about new services of the platform. The EZpay+ Payment Platform may also draw upon this Personal Information in order to adapt the Services to User needs, to research the effectiveness and benefits of the Services and to develop new services.

3. Use of Cookies

3.1. A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a web site that is saved on a User's hard disk by the User's computer's browser. It holds information a site may need to personalize a user's experience. The EZpay+ Payment Platform will use cookies for saving the user preferences for e.g. accessibility (high contrast, font size and text to speech). Additionally, cookies will be used to store session data.

3.2. The EZpay+ Payment Platform may use cookies as part of the functionality and security of the EZpay+ Payment Platform. Cookie technology does not capture individual email addresses or any Personal Information and is used to improve User experience on the EZpay+ Payment Platform

3.3. To browse without cookies, a User can configure his browser to reject cookies or to notify User when a cookie is set. The EZpay+ Payment Platform does not manage and is not responsible for the digital marketing and cookie practices of third parties. User experience of EZpay+ Payment Platform may be different if User set his browser to block cookies.

4. Sharing of Personal Information

4.1. The EZpay+ Payment Platform may share User Personal Information with its employees, agents and service providers who are specially selected to perform the tasks related specifically to the EZpay+ Payment Platform and/or the Services. The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology employees, agents and services providers are required to provide a comparable level of protection and confidentiality of User Personal Information. The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology may also be required to share Personal Information with government agencies, public bodies, regulators or other entities where permitted or required by law.

5. Security of Personal Information

5.1. The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology takes the protection of your Personal Information seriously. Each User's Personal Information is protected by a password for privacy and security. It is User's responsibility to prevent unauthorized access to User's account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting his/her User password appropriately, and limiting access to User's computer and browser by signing off after User has finished accessing his/her account, as detailed in the EZpay+ Payment Platform Terms and Conditions.

5.2 While the Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology endeavours to safeguard each User's Personal Information to ensure that each User's account information is kept private, the EZpay+ Payment Platform cannot guarantee the security of User's account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise the security of User information at any time and User understands, acknowledges and assumes this risk.

5.3. Users are encouraged not to respond to text messages, pop-ups or other internet requests that ask you to reveal Personal Information or Bank Card Information. The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology will not send unsolicited text messages or emails asking for your password, personal identification number or your Bank Account number(s) or any other information related thereto. You are encouraged to review your electronic receipts and report any errors in a timely manner.

5.4 For the avoidance of doubt, Users agree to assist the Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology in any investigation into any fraudulent activity linked to EZpay+ Payment Platform Account accessed via the Services.

6. Amendments to Privacy Policy

6.1. The EZpay+ Payment Platform Privacy Policy is to be read together with the EZpay+ Payment Platform Terms and Conditions. The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time in its sole and absolute discretion. The terms governing use, collection and storage of Personal Information will be the terms prevailing at the time when such Personal Information is submitted or provided in other way to EZpay+ Payment Platform by the User. Users are encouraged to read periodically this Privacy Policy. The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology; however, remains committed to providing notifications of any material change made to the Privacy Policy. Users are bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when they continue to access or use the EZpay+ Payment Platform to make payment to the Government Services after such amendments.

7. Other Information

7.1. It is our goal to continuously improve our service offerings to Users. Therefore, The Government of Barbados - Ministry of Innovation, Science & Smart Technology may routinely collect non-personal aggregate information from surveys, public archives and web sites to help us understand the interests of our customers.

How To Apply

HOW TO APPLY

To complete and submit the application, you will need:

An active email address. You may use the email address of a family member or friend.

Your national registration number (if applicable).

Be sure to enter the correct email address, since a copy of the application and your Certificate of Character will only be sent to that email address.

You may have to check your junk mail for the emails.

HOW TO PAY

Effective March 1st 2020, payment for a Certificate of Character will no longer be collected at the Certificate of Character office.

Payments can be made online through EZPAY+ or with cash (only) at any Post Office island-wide.

Paying through EZPAY+

On the application form, if you select EZPAY+ as your payment option and you already have an EZPAY+ account, click “Login” and enter your login details.

If you do not have an account, you will need to create one. To do so, please click “Register”.

If you have an account and you forgot your password, click ‘forgot password”.

Paying at the POST OFFICE

On the application form, if you select Post Office as your payment option, please note that you can ONLY pay with CASH.

RECEIPT OF CERTIFICATE

If there are no issues, your certificate will be sent to the email address provided on the application 24 to 48 hours, after payment has been received. However, if there is an issue, the certificate may take a little

On the application form:

Select your payment method (EZPAY+ Post Office).

Using EZ Pay as your Payment Process.

If you select EZPAY+ and you already have an EZPAY+ account, click “Login” and enter your login details.

If you do not have an account, you will need to create one. To do so, please click “Register”.

4. On the EZPAY+ page, click “Create an account”

5. Complete the registration form and submit.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided.

You may return to the application form and LOGIN to complete the application process.

Review application and confirm email address.

Click “Yes” to confirm and submit.

A confirmation email and a copy of the completed form will be sent to the email address that your provided on the application form.

If you selected EZPAY+ as your payment method do the following:

choose payment method (Direct Debit, Credit Card or mMoney)

Remember Direct Debit takes 5 business days to process, credit card and mMoney are processed instantly.

Enter payment details (enter account number, card details etc. or for mMoney scan QR code)

Confirm payment.

A confirmation email of payment and a receipt will be sent to your email address.

Using the Post Office Payment Method

If you select Post Office, please note that you can ONLY pay with CASH.

Review application and confirm email address.

Click “Yes” to confirm and submit.

A confirmation email and a copy of the completed form will be sent to the email address that you provided on the application form.

Present the printed application form to the Post Office and pay for the Certificate of Character.
